Shania Twain
ActingShania Twain, cantante, compositora y actriz canadiense de música country, nació el 28 de agosto de 1965 como Eilleen Regina Edwards en Windsor, Ontario, Canadá. Es una de las tres hijas de Clarence y Sharon (Morrison) Edwards (su hermana Jill es dos años mayor y Carrie-Ann tres años menor). Cuando tenía seis años, su madre se volvió a casar con Jerry Twain, un nativo ojibwa de sangre pura de Timmins, Ontario, quien la adoptó como suya. Comenzó a cantar en bares cuando era niña y, a los trece años, apareció en The Tommy Hunter Show (1965). Cuando tenía 22 años, sus padres murieron en un accidente y se convirtió en la tutora legal de sus hermanastros (Mark, entonces de 13 años, y Darryl, entonces de 14) y su hermana, poniendo su carrera musical en pausa para criar a su familia. Su tercer álbum, Come on Over (1997), se convirtió en el álbum de música country más vendido, con 40 millones de copias, y el álbum más vendido de la historia por una mujer. Es la única cantante femenina en tener tres discos de diamante en Estados Unidos, certificados por la RIAA, siendo, además, la segunda cantante canadiense con más discos vendidos (detrás de Céline Dion y por delante de Alanis Morissette).
