Anthony Quinn
ActingManuel Antonio Rodolfo Quinn Oaxaca (Chihuahua, 21 de abril de 1915-Boston, Massachusetts, 3 de junio de 2001), conocido como Anthony Quinn, fue un actor mexicoestadounidense. Nacido en México como hijo de una madre mexicana y un padre irlandés-mexicano de primera generación, era conocido por su interpretación de personajes terrenales y apasionados «marcados por una virilidad brutal y elemental» en numerosas películas aclamadas por la crítica tanto en Hollywood como en el extranjero. Entre sus trabajos más notables se incluyen La Strada (1954), Los cañones de Navarone (1961), Barrabás (1961), Lawrence de Arabia (1962), Los cañones de San Sebastián (1968), Las sandalias del pescador (1968), Across 110th Street (1972), El mensaje (1976), El león del desierto (1980), Jungle Fever (1991) y Seven Servants (1996). Adicionalmente, por su protagónico en Zorba, el griego, fue nominado a un premio Óscar. Quinn ganó el Óscar al mejor actor de reparto en dos ocasiones: la primera en 1952 por ¡Viva Zapata!, y la segunda en 1956 por Lust for Life. Además, recibió dos nominaciones al premio Óscar en la categoría a mejor actor, junto con cinco nominaciones al Globo de Oro, y dos nominaciones al Premio BAFTA. En 1987, se le otorgó el Globo de Oro honorífico Premio Cecil B. DeMille. Tanto a través de sus esfuerzos artísticos como de su activismo por los derechos civiles, sigue siendo una figura fundamental de la representación de los latinoamericanos en la cultura y los medios de comunicación de los Estados Unidos.
